Make An Appointment
It is very important that you fill this in and either e-mail or post it to us.
The Registration Form is vital because it tells us how we can best contact you and also whether there are any confidentiality issues that our staff have to be aware of when they are trying to ring you up or write to you.
It is also important because it allows you to specify your preferred time. This information makes allocating appointments much quicker and more convenient for everyone.
The Registration Fee
Before being offered an appointment we will also require you to pay a one-off Registration Fee of £30 to help cover our costs in registering you as a new client and providing you with your first appointment. Probably the easiest way to make this payment is by credit/debit card over the phone, but it if you prefer, you can send a cheque or postal order to the Centre.
However you pay, please bear in mind that we are usually able to reduce the £30 registration Fee for local clients whose financial circumstances are genuinely difficult. All you have to do is ask.

Your Assessment Interview
Generally, we will be able to offer you a first appointment with a fully trained and experienced counsellor shortly after we have received your Registration Fee. This appointment, which we call an "Assessment Interview," lasts for about an hour and its purpose is twofold: firstly, it allows you to learn a little bit more about Relate; and secondly, it enables our counsellor to hear about the difficulties you are experiencing and to decide whether Relate counselling would be an appropriate form of help. If we decide we are not the right agency for you, we will always try to suggest a useful alternative.
